Material

For a long time we looked for a material that would stand up to our high standards of durability and longevity. After experimenting with canvas, truck tarps and even jute bags, we ultimately decided on used firefighting hose. This material was ideal: thanks to the high-tensile polyester yarn and synthetic rubber lining, it is extremely tough and durable.

There are various different types of hose in use by fire rescue departments. For our products we use mostly Type C and B. In Germany, fire hoses usually come in two colours: red and white. That’s why most of our products are also available in these two colours. However, when we make our Scott laptop bags we turn the hose inside-out, so that the coloured polyester covering is on the inside and the black rubber lining is on the outside. Black, then, is another color option for our Scott laptop bags. In addition to these colours, many fire departments have now started using in signal, or safety, colours: neon yellow or black-and-yellow stripes. But as these hoses haven't been in use for a very long time, there is not enough of this material available for our products to list them a standard colour in the range. However, we collect what we can get and once a year we bring out a special "Lightline" Limited Edition of bags and wallets, which are available exclusively in our online shop.
